The film Cabrini will kick off Italian Heritage Month in Colorado. Released this year, Cabrini is a biographical film about the life and work of Mother Cabrini, aka St Frances Xavier Cabrini. The first canonized American saint, Mother Cabrini has deep roots in Colorado. She came to Colorado in 1902 to minister to Colorado’s large Italian immigrant community. In Denver Mother Cabrini established a convent and grade school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She went on to build the Queen of Heaven Orphanage and the Cabrini Shrine on Lookout Mountain. For her contributions to Colorado, the state established the holiday Cabrini Day, celebrated annually on the first Monday in October.
COST: Free (Registration is Required, Donations Accepted)
This event is cosponsored by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Altar and Rosary Society, the Dante Alighieri Society of Denver and the Colorado Cabrini Day Holiday Commission.
