Anointing of the Sick
“Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
— James 5:14-15
The Sacraments of Confession, Anointing of the Sick, and Viaticum (Holy Communion given to one in danger of dying) are offered to a person who is sick and/or dying. The best way to confer this sacrament is within the community of the Church; that is, with the family and friends of the sick person gathered and the sick person alert and able to respond in faith to the healing presence of the Lord.
If a family member has a debilitating or life threatening illness, please arrange for a priest to visit and anoint the sick person as soon as possible. DO NOT wait until the person is at the point of death. In case of a Sacramental Emergency, please call 303-455-0447 x25
